For five days before the shooting, two of the men accused of firing at actor Tiger Shroff's car stayed in Room 201 of a hotel in Mumbai's Andheri East, according to NDTV, citing sources. The room cost about ₹1,500 a day, and the two said they were from Hisar in Haryana.

Five days in Room 201

The accused, Phool Singh and Rehan Singh, checked in on the morning of October 14. They checked out between 4 pm and 4.30 pm on October 18, shortly before the firing in Juhu, and did not return.

Each day, the sources said, they left in an auto-rickshaw to scout locations and prepare for the attack. Police are also examining an incident in which a pistol supplied to the group allegedly misfired while being tested in the room. Hotel staff learnt of it only when police arrived on October 20.

The attack

At least two men fired at Shroff's car in Juhu on the evening of Sunday, October 18, and escaped on a motorcycle. Mumbai Police said five to six rounds were fired. The actor escaped largely unhurt, but his driver and a passer-by were injured. A motorcycle believed to have been used was later found abandoned in Andheri.

The arrests

Kota police arrested three accused from a train on Monday, as they were allegedly planning to flee to Nepal, and handed them over to Mumbai Police. They were produced in a magistrate's court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody till October 31. The accused are Rehan alias Sukka, 18, of Sonipat; Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan, 22, of Begusarai, who lives in Mumbai; and Phool Singh, 18, of Haryana.

A case has been registered for attempted murder and under the Arms Act.
