Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 was closing in on ₹800 crore worldwide as of Saturday afternoon, though its daily earnings in India have slowed in the third week, according to figures from the tracking site Sacnilk.

By the end of Day 16, the film had grossed ₹776.95 crore worldwide, made up of ₹509.45 crore from India and ₹267.50 crore overseas, Sacnilk's figures show. That left it about ₹23 crore short of ₹800 crore at that point.

Where it stood on Saturday

The Times of India, citing Sacnilk, reported that the film had earned ₹1.78 crore net across India on Day 17 by early Saturday afternoon, from 3,303 tracked shows. These are live estimates and the day's final number is not yet in.

  • Tamil: ₹1.33 crore from 1,710 shows
  • Hindi: ₹23 lakh from 1,238 shows
  • Telugu: ₹22 lakh from 355 shows

That took the total to about ₹437.18 crore net and ₹511.55 crore gross in India.

How the run is holding up

Sacnilk's day-wise figures show a steady easing. India net collections were ₹7.20 crore on Wednesday, Day 14, then ₹6.25 crore on Day 15 and ₹5.50 crore on Friday, Day 16. Friday's drop was 12%.

Tamil remains the film's base, accounting for ₹3.75 crore of Friday's total, or 68.2%. Overseas markets make up about 34.4% of the worldwide gross. Sacnilk estimates about 2.93 crore tickets sold so far.

What next

The weekend will show whether the film can hold on to audiences. Competition is coming quickly: the first part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is due in theatres on November 5, The Times of India has reported.

All box office numbers here are tracker estimates, not official studio figures, and may change.
