Ram Charan and director Sukumar formally began their second film together with a pooja ceremony in Hyderabad on November 1, The Times of India reported. The project is tentatively titled RC17.

Chiranjeevi attended, broke the ceremonial coconut and sounded the clapboard. "The journey of #RC17 begins with the MEGA CLAP," the makers wrote while sharing a glimpse of the event.

Those present included Sukumar, Ravi Shankar, Naveen Yerneni, Naga Vamsi, Gopichand Malineni, Maruthi, Buchi Babu Sana and Harish Shankar, according to the report.

The music

The Times of India, citing Variety, reported that Anirudh Ravichander has joined the film as its composer. That would be his first collaboration with Sukumar, who has worked with Devi Sri Prasad on most of his films, the report said.

Why it matters

The launch ends a long wait. The film was first announced in March 2024, The Times of India reported, and it is the pair's first film together since the 2018 blockbuster Rangasthalam.

Its date also moved in recent weeks. Producer Ravi Shankar Yellamanchili had told Deccan Chronicle the film would launch on October 26 or 27, and Gulte reported that he had confirmed a November 1 pooja.

Deccan Chronicle described the film as an action-adventure produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Gulte reported that several actresses were being considered for the female lead, which has not been announced.
