Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part 1 collected ₹64.85 crore net in India on its opening day, Thursday (November 5), according to box-office tracker Sacnilk. Its India gross was ₹77.50 crore across about 25,200 tracked shows, and Sacnilk estimates its worldwide gross at about ₹127.50 crore, including roughly ₹50 crore from overseas.

The figures below are as of Friday afternoon (November 6).

Day two so far

By Friday afternoon the film had made about ₹8.55 crore on its second day, taking its India net total to ₹73.40 crore, The Times of India reported, citing tracked shows. These are early figures; the final day-two number will be known later. The paper expected footfalls to pick up in Friday's evening and night shows and over the weekend.

How the opening compares

  • Hindi: the Hindi version made ₹47.50 crore on day one, ahead of Tiger 3's ₹43 crore, making it the biggest opening for a Hindi film released just before Diwali, Sacnilk said.
  • All languages: it remained behind Adipurush in overall India net, largely because of that film's stronger Telugu business, according to Sacnilk.
  • The Times of India said the opening beat Ranbir Kapoor's previous release, Animal, but fell short of Dhurandhar 2's record ₹102 crore net opening.
  • The Kannada version has not drawn the traction expected despite Yash's presence, The Times of India reported.

What next

The film opened three days before Diwali, which falls on Sunday. Sacnilk noted that films released just before Diwali have often grown after the festival, so its run after Sunday may matter as much as its opening.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. It is produced by Namit Malhotra, with music by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.

Box-office figures are tracker estimates and may change.
