Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 will begin streaming on Prime Video on November 12, the makers have announced, India TV reported. It will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, in India and abroad.
The film released in theatres on October 15, so the streaming premiere comes four weeks after its theatrical release.
"Following the film's spectacular theatrical response, we're delighted to bring Jailer 2 to Prime Video, where it will join Jailer, taking both chapters of Muthuvel Pandian's story to audiences in India and across the world," director Nelson Dilipkumar said, according to India TV.
Where the box office stands
The film is still running in its fourth week, though daily earnings are now small. As of Thursday afternoon (November 5), it had collected about ₹466.32 crore net and ₹545.42 crore gross in India, including early Day 22 figures, The Times of India reported, citing tracker Sacnilk. Day 22 had brought in about ₹27 lakh by the afternoon, most of it from the Tamil version.
- First week: ₹334.35 crore net
- Second week: ₹95.55 crore net
- Day 19 (Monday): ₹3.40 crore
- Day 20: ₹3.35 crore
- Day 21: ₹3 crore
Box-office figures are tracker estimates and may change.
Why it matters
Viewers who have not seen the film in cinemas will be able to watch it at home from next week, alongside the first Jailer, which is also on Prime Video. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the film stars Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan and Ramya Krishnan. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music.
