A 26-year-old Flipkart delivery agent from Surat has been arrested in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district with phones and other goods worth about ₹4.6 lakh, allegedly taken from parcels meant for customers, police said, according to IANS in a report carried by NDTV.

How he was caught

Bhavnagar's Local Crime Branch received a tip that a man was selling mobile phones and other items without bills on Motibaug Road, near Gangajaliya Lake. Police found the accused, Rutvik Makwana, with the goods on October 23. When he could not produce bills or explain where they came from, police seized them and arrested him.

During questioning, he allegedly admitted that he worked as a delivery agent for Flipkart in Surat. Police said he would take delivery bags containing phones and other valuable items, keep the parcels instead of delivering or returning them, and disappear, about 15 days earlier.

What police recovered

The seized goods, valued at ₹4,60,512, included:

  • 13 mobile phones from brands including Google, Samsung, Vivo, Lava, Poco, HMD and Motorola.
  • Apple AirPods worth ₹22,000, Bluetooth earbuds and a smartwatch.
  • Wristwatches, perfumes, face wash, soap and toothpaste.
  • Five pairs of jeans, T-shirts and a shirt.

The case is registered at Saroli police station in Surat under section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the investigation is continuing.
