Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said on Sunday that the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) would be given a new form, and that the views of a Cabinet sub-committee on reforming the commission and its examinations would be taken, The Hindu reported.
The sub-committee is headed by Health Minister U.T. Khader.
"There is a need to reform the KPSC," Mr. Shivakumar told reporters in Bengaluru. He said he and Home Minister Priyank Kharge had discussed cleaning up the examination system and had given the committee the guidance it needed.
He added that it was not right for money and influence to affect appointments, since candidates taking the exams had studied hard.
Prosecution sanction
Asked about the prosecution sanction against the now-suspended IAS officer who was the KPSC's Controller of Examinations, Mr. Shivakumar said some facts had emerged during the investigation, and that sanction had been given so the truth could come out in the Enforcement Directorate's investigation and the State's own.
