Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 43 Delhi Jal Board projects worth ₹8,941 crore, aimed at cleaning the Yamuna. He used the event at Shyam Vihar in New Delhi to say the NDA would form the next government in Punjab, according to a PTI report carried by The Hindu.
The Yamuna clean-up
Shah said the BJP would seek a mandate from the people in 2029 after rejuvenating the river. He accused the previous Congress and AAP governments in Delhi of allowing sewage to flow into the Yamuna, and said the BJP government had since reduced the discharge.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Delhi minister Ashish Sood were among those present.
On the Opposition and Punjab
Shah said protests and demonstrations by Opposition parties, including the Congress and AAP, would achieve nothing. Referring to their allegations of EVM tampering and "vote theft", he said these parties had been out of power in many states for decades.
Turning to AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Shah said the "politics of excuse" would not save the party in the coming Punjab Assembly election. People in Punjab wanted an NDA government, he said, and he claimed AAP would be routed. He also said drug trafficking in the state would be ended once an NDA government took office.
