Fighter jets, helicopters and the Indian Air Force's aerobatic teams will fly over the Ganga in Varanasi on Sunday for the finale of the IAF's 94th-anniversary air show, Mint reported, citing PTI.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the display at Namo Ghat, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel.
What will fly
The three-day show, titled "Wings over Ganges", began on Thursday and paused on Friday for the state legislative council elections. Sunday's finale will feature:
- Frontline fighters: the Su-30MKI, Rafale and Tejas.
- The Light Combat Helicopter Prachand and several transport aircraft.
- The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team.
- Aircraft from the Army and Navy, flying with the IAF in a show of the three services working together.
The Prime Minister's day
Modi, who is the Lok Sabha MP for Varanasi, is due to land at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport around 10 am. He will first fly by helicopter to Mirzamurad to open a new garment factory for Arvind Limited, then reach Namo Ghat around noon to watch the display as chief guest.
Rajnath Singh arrived on Saturday and prayed at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
For spectators
The city has been divided into 32 zones, 50 sectors and 80 sub-sectors, with about 11,900 security personnel on duty. At a review meeting, Adityanath told officials to avoid unnecessary barricading so people can reach the ghats easily, and said crowd control should not block public movement.
Silt has been cleared from the ghats, and the administration has set up 200 mobile toilets, 280 water tankers, 2,000 dustbins and 200 sanitation volunteers.
