Using terrorism as an "instrument of statecraft" is simply unacceptable and can never be justified, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Sunday, according to PTI in a report carried by The Hindu.

"It can never be justified. It can never be rationalised. Yet, it continues because not all states really display zero tolerance," he said. "Despite history holding so many lessons, some still allow political calculations to take precedence." He did not name any country.

"War anywhere threatens peace everywhere"

Jaishankar was speaking at an event in New Delhi marking the 75th anniversary of the Chinmaya Mission. Pointing to the conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, he said India reflects global opinion when it says dialogue and diplomacy are the only solution.

"Let us consider the indivisibility of peace. Now, war anywhere threatens peace everywhere," he said.

The world must become more aware of terrorism as a common threat, he said, and come together with stronger resolve to counter it "in all its forms and manifestations".
