R Madhavan will play the lead in a new horror film from Vishal Furia, the director of Chhorii and Maa, The Times of India reported.
The film does not have a title yet. It is expected to go on the floors in early 2027 and is being produced by Rohit Ranjan under his banner, Frostlit Production Limited, according to the report.
"He was always my first and only choice," Furia told Variety India, as quoted by the paper. He called Madhavan "the true OG horror star" of 13B, one of his favourite films.
On the plan for the film, Furia said: "We want to create something audiences have never seen before in Indian horror - the kind of fear they will feel in their bones."

The project would extend a line of work in the genre for the actor. The Times of India pointed to 13B and Shaitaan, and noted that he also made a surprise appearance in Furia's Maa, with Kajol, reprising his Shaitaan role of Vanraj.
Madhavan was last seen in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which reached theatres on March 19, 2026, the paper said. No release date or further cast has been reported for the new film.
