Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong gets 10 more years for collusion

The 30-year-old, already jailed since 2020, pleaded guilty to seeking foreign sanctions; the US condemned the sentence and China backed it

Joshua Wong was sentenced on Thursday to 10 more years in jail for conspiring to collude with foreign forces under Hong Kong's national security law.

He pleaded guilty in September to seeking foreign sanctions against Hong Kong and China; Human Rights Watch says he could stay in prison until late 2036.

The US consulate called for his release, while China's foreign ministry told other countries to stop interfering.
