New interconnection rules from January 1 move operators off old E1 links and local hand-over points within three years, and cap interest on late dues
TRAI has issued amended interconnection rules that take effect on January 1, 2027.
All new interconnections must be IP-based, and old E1/TDM links must move to IP within three years.
Traffic will be handed over at the licensed service area level instead of local charging areas; late payments carry interest capped at SBI's MCLR plus 2%.
