India won both singles titles at the Hylo Open 2026, with P.V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen taking the women's and men's crowns at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken, Germany, on Sunday, Sportstar reported.
Sindhu, the second seed, beat Denmark's Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in a final lasting 38 minutes. Lakshya, the seventh seed, beat Indonesia's Jonatan Christie 21-17, 21-10.
Sindhu's week
The 31-year-old dropped no game on her way to the title. She beat the UAE's Prakriti Bharath, France's Rosy Oktavia Pancasari and Germany's Amalie Schulz before stopping compatriot Anmol Kharb 21-13, 21-16 in the semi-finals.
She had arrived after losing the French Open final to An Se-young the previous week, Sportstar reported.
Lakshya's harder road
Lakshya had to work longer. He beat compatriot Kiran George 21-15, 18-21, 21-12 in the pre-quarter-finals, myKhel reported, and Sportstar said Kalle Koljonen took the opening game of their quarter-final.
He then beat Toma Junior Popov 21-17, 21-13 in the semi-finals. Christie had the better head-to-head record against him at 4-3, but Lakshya led 11-7 at the break in the second game and pulled clear.
Why it matters
For Lakshya, this ended a wait in 2026. It was his first BWF title of the year, after he lost the All England final in March to Chinese Taipei's Lin Chun-Yi, Sportstar reported.
For Sindhu it was a second title of the season after the Japan Open in July, and her seventh BWF tour title overall, according to Sportstar's list, which places the Hylo Open in the Super 500 category.
The venue also has history for Lakshya. In 2019, as a teenager, he won in Saarbrücken in what Sportstar described as his first big senior trophy.
The other Indians
Anmol Kharb was the surprise of the week. The world No. 53 knocked out third seed Line Christophersen 11-21, 21-18, 25-23, myKhel reported, then beat Unnati Hooda in an all-Indian quarter-final to reach the last four.
H.S. Prannoy lost in the first round to sixth seed Popov after a 21-23 opening game, Sportstar reported.
