Como beat Lens 9-1 at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Wednesday (November 4), equalling the biggest margin of victory in Champions League history, The Indian Express reported. No away side had scored nine goals in a Champions League match before.

How the goals came

Greek striker Tasos Douvikas scored three, in the 7th, 32nd and 57th minutes, and now leads this season's scorers with six. Nico Paz scored in the 40th minute and dedicated the goal to Jesús de Miguel, a Tenerife player who died after a collision in a match against Andorra, beIN Sports reported. Lucas Da Cunha and Marc-Oliver Kempf were among the other scorers, and Matteo Papaccioli got the ninth in stoppage time. Ruben Aguilar's 65th-minute volley was Lens's only goal.

"It's a crazy night and a crazy result, but we can't get ahead of ourselves," said Da Cunha, the captain.

Como's rise

When Cesc Fabregas joined Como as a player four years ago in Serie B, the team changed in a bar. "We had massages in the back room of a bar," he said in May, after Como clinched a Champions League place.

Como now have nine points from four games and are fourth in the table. They beat RB Leipzig 4-1 and Manchester United 4-1 at their 12,000-capacity home ground, and lost 3-2 at Feyenoord. Lens are 33rd.
