Voter ID to replace Aadhaar for welfare pay, says minister

Union minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh) said Aadhaar will no longer be the basis for paying scheme beneficiaries; biometrics and voter ID (EPIC) numbers will be used instead.
He did not say which schemes would change or when, The Federal reported.
Congress's Pawan Khera and the CPI(M) said the move would hurt people whose names were deleted from electoral rolls during the SIR.
