The Leader of Opposition says people dropped from rolls in the SIR could lose benefits; he gave no evidence for his allegation against the CEC
Rahul Gandhi called Union minister Lalan Singh's remark that voter ID will replace Aadhaar for welfare payments a "conspiracy" and "rights theft".
He alleged that names struck off voter lists in the SIR would cost people benefits too, and asked whether rations and pensions would be next.
The government has not said which schemes would change; no response to Mr Gandhi has been reported.
