Farmers sowed 15,864 acres in the first 28 days of October, up from 6,552 a year ago, as El Nino pushes them away from water-hungry paddy.
Horticulture sowing in Telangana rose to 15,864 acres between October 1 and 28, from 6,552 acres in the same period last year, The Hindu reported.
Rangareddy recorded the biggest rise, with 3,953 acres more than last year.
Officials expect yields to fall by around 20% in the coming months because of heat, which could lift prices for farmers.
