Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar was discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Wednesday (November 4) morning after medical tests and observation, the hospital said.
"Mr Sharad Pawar has been discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic today. He is stable and doing well. He will be travelling directly from the hospital to his residence in Mumbai," said a statement from Dr Purvez K Grant, the hospital's chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee, according to ANI.
Why he was admitted
Mr Pawar was admitted on Monday (November 2) with a cough and pleuritic chest pain, Hindustan Times reported. The hospital kept him under observation as a precaution. His condition stayed stable and the discomfort eased, after which doctors cleared him to go home.
His daughter, Baramati MP and NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule, had said earlier that all his health parameters were stable.
What his family said
Vitthal Maniyar, a family friend, told reporters that all the medical reports were satisfactory. "He had a cough and phlegm two days ago, following which he was admitted here. All the medical examinations were conducted, and the reports were good," he said.
"The Prime Minister also called to enquire about his health. He wished him a speedy recovery and said that all of us need him," Mr Maniyar added, and asked party workers not to worry.
Background
Mr Pawar had recently toured drought-hit parts of Maharashtra before he was admitted, Hindustan Times reported. ANI said doctors cleared him for discharge once the discomfort had subsided.
