Marine commandos airdropped by an IAF C-17 retook the fishing vessel Azini after a 48-hour operation; Iran's embassy thanked India
The Indian Navy freed the fishing vessel Azini and all 20 of its Iranian crew from armed pirates off Somalia, with no casualties, the defence ministry said.
A warship and a maritime reconnaissance aircraft tracked the vessel, and an IAF C-17 airdropped additional marine commandos.
Iran's embassy in New Delhi thanked the Navy and the Air Force for what it called a humanitarian operation.
