The body of a 25-year-old woman from Unnao was found near the Kisan Path underpass in Lucknow on Saturday.
A paper in her bag with four names and a four-digit number is now a key lead, police said.
Police suspect she was killed elsewhere and her body dumped; the post-mortem will establish the cause of death.
