India A will face a New Zealand A side with 11 international players in a three-match four-day series, starting in Lincoln on Saturday, ESPNcricinfo reported. The games run alongside India's white-ball series against New Zealand.

New Zealand Cricket has named a 19-man squad that will be rotated through the three matches. Thirteen players are listed for each game, and the other six will go back to play the domestic 50-over Ford Trophy, which starts on October 28.

Who India A will face

Rhys Mariu will captain the first two matches. The captain for the third will be "decided in due course", NZC said, even though Mariu is available for it.

The squad includes Henry Nicholls, Ben Lister, Mitchell Hay, Tim Robinson, Matt Fisher, Kristian Clarke, Jayden Lennox, Adi Ashok and Dean Foxcroft. Nick Kelly, the newest player to get an NZC central contract, is in line for the third game.

Mariu and Foxcroft play all three matches, as do Matt Boyle, Curtis Heaphy, Simon Keene, Fraser Sheat and Jarrod McKay.

Fast-bowling all-rounder Cam Paul, 21, will play his first New Zealand A match in the third game. In five first-class appearances he averages just under 22 with the ball, with two five-wicket hauls.

A test against India's best

NZC's head of high-performance development, Pete Sanford, said his players would get to test themselves against the likes of KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Akash Deep, Devdutt Padikkal, Auqib Nabi, Washington Sundar and Yashasvi Jaiswal, and possibly Rishabh Pant, whose place depends on his fitness.

"There's a huge buzz around having India on our shores," Sanford said.

Some of the India A players are expected to make India's squad for the two-Test series against New Zealand, which starts on November 19 after the white-ball matches.
