India bowled New Zealand out for 134 in 41 overs in the second one-day international in Wellington on Saturday (November 7), Sportstar reported. India need 135 to win. This report gives the position at the innings break; the chase was still to come.

Rain in Wellington delayed the toss, which was finally held at 8 am IST. India won it and chose to bowl, and both sides named unchanged XIs.

How New Zealand fell

  • Auqib Nabi struck twice early: Tim Seifert chipped a catch to mid-on, and Will Young edged to wicketkeeper KL Rahul. Anshul Kamboj had Henry Nicholls playing on, leaving New Zealand at 23 for 3 in nine overs.
  • Gurnoor Brar removed Tom Latham and then Glenn Phillips for a duck in the same over, and New Zealand were 53 for 5 after 20 overs.
  • Daryl Mitchell held the innings together with 55 off 104 balls before Axar Patel had him caught at long-off. Brar then removed Mitchell Santner and Nathan Smith, and Axar bowled Kyle Jamieson.
  • Kamboj ended the innings by yorking Blair Tickner, finishing with two wickets.

The bowlers

Brar finished with 4 for 30 in his 10 overs, his best ODI figures, bowling short and back-of-a-length deliveries at pace with a short leg in place, Sportstar reported. Nabi, Kamboj and Axar took two wickets each.
