The Cabinet approved a 30% capital subsidy for two lithium and two nickel plants, expected to draw about ₹10,000 crore of investment
The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹2,814 crore scheme to subsidise domestic processing of lithium and nickel from 2026-27 to 2030-31.
It offers a 30% capital subsidy for two lithium plants of at least 30 kt and two nickel plants of at least 50 kt, capped at ₹500 crore and ₹900 crore each.
India meets most of its need for refined, high-purity critical minerals through imports, the government says.
