Snapchat has begun switching off its "Find Friends" feature by default for child users in Britain, the regulator Ofcom said.
Ofcom called it an important step against online grooming, but also "long overdue", and will monitor the rollout this month.
Snapchat told Ofcom that effective age checks for under-18s should be in place by the end of the year.
