DJB plans 8-km sewer through Yamuna floodplain for ₹149 cr

The line would ease overflows in south Delhi from ducts as old as 1938, but activists object to more work on the floodplain.

The Delhi Jal Board plans an 8.34-km sewer rising main through the Yamuna floodplain, Hindustan Times reported.

The line would carry sewage from the Ring Road pumping station to the Okhla sewage treatment plant, at an approved cost of ₹148.90 crore.

A Yamuna activist has opposed it, and the draft Master Plan 2041 says no permanent construction should be allowed on the floodplain.
