Tamil Nadu releases ₹198 crore honorarium for election staff
Officials who ran the 2026 Assembly election get up to a month's basic pay, capped at ₹45,000 for senior officers and ₹30,000 for election-wing staff

The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned ₹198 crore as honorarium for officials and staff who conducted the 2026 Assembly election in all 234 constituencies.
District election officers, returning officers and other senior officials get one month's basic pay, up to ₹45,000.
Election-wing staff and members of flying squads and surveillance teams get up to ₹30,000; payment will be made through district election officers.
