The State says a six-month review justified the downgrade; the Congress warns the threat has declined but not ended.
Chhattisgarh is reducing the security cover of 116 political leaders and public representatives in the Bastar region, Home Minister Vijay Sharma said.
Each is moving down one category, from Z+ to Z, Z to Y+ and Y+ to Y, after a six-month threat review.
State Congress chief Deepak Baij, whose own cover was cut, said a fresh assessment should come first.
