Axis's Diwali stock recommendations for Samvat 2083 are doing the rounds ahead of Muhurat trading on Sunday, November 8, but the published versions of the list do not fully agree.

The Economic Times said Axis Direct was bullish on nine stocks and named eight. Finowings, a markets blog, listed nine Axis Securities picks with upside of up to 20%. Four names appear in both, with matching targets. Tark Samvad has not seen the brokerage's own report.

The four in both lists

  • Coforge: target ₹2,245, about 18% upside. The Economic Times cited its deal wins and client additions.
  • Hindalco: target ₹1,000, about 15% upside, largely supported by Novelis, according to the same report.
  • APL Apollo Tubes: target ₹2,340, about 15% upside. Management has revised FY27 volume growth guidance to the lower end of 15-20%, the report said.
  • Elecon Engineering: target ₹500, about 20% upside, with 15% revenue growth expected in the second half of FY27.

Only in Finowings

Finowings also listed DCB Bank (₹240), Nephrocare Health Services (₹710), Indian Hotels (₹900), Ashok Leyland (₹170) and Eternal (₹365). It gave upside of 15% to 20% across the list.

Only in The Economic Times

The Economic Times also listed these four as Buy recommendations:

  • ITC: target ₹360 against ₹259, about 39% upside
  • Larsen & Toubro: target ₹4,550 against ₹3,801, about 20%
  • Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders: target ₹2,905 against ₹1,731, about 68%
  • Olectra Greentech: target ₹1,500 against ₹985, about 52%

Its headline said upside of up to 52%, although the Mazagon Dock figure it gave is higher.

Why it matters

Festive picks draw attention after a hard year. The Nifty 50 fell about 10.3% during Samvat 2082, up to late October, amid geopolitical tensions, high crude prices and foreign selling, Finowings reported.

The differences show why a recommendation is worth checking at the source. Targets and prices are from the reports and will have moved since. Finowings said Axis frames its picks as medium-to-long-term ideas, and that delivery of results will matter more than promises in the new Samvat year.
